Thank-you to the Chetna Association of Canada for this opportunity to compare and contrast the histories of two great men who have influenced the course of politics and human development in their respective countries. Though Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Tommy Douglas were born half a world apart, in drastically different circumstances, they both represent the finest aspects of public service, democratic principles and social responsibility. More importantly, both were known for their selfless determination to help those who were most vulnerable and their desire to ensure every person was treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their social standing or economic wealth.
Jon and Suzi Livingstone are an ordinary young couple from North Vancouver with an extra-ordinary heart and passion for the downtrodden Dalits of India.
Last Saturday, over 7,000 people participated in the 3rd Annual Shri Guru Ravidass Ji Nagar Kirtan Parade in Burnaby. After the long weekend was kicked off by a windy storm, some believe that it must have been divine intervention to witness a glorious sunny day for the Nagar Kirtan parade. The largest Nagar Kirtan parade in Burnaby’s history was marshalled by nine individuals carrying nine special symbolic flags which included: Canada, India, BC, Burnaby and five honouring Shri Guru Ravidass Ji.

Most Ravidasi Gurdwaras will disown sant Rama Nand and follow Sikh Maryada in full. Even Ravidasi Sants will change their system and become real Sikh preachers. Following article written long back is more relevant today. Baba Sahib’s path is the quickest, the safest and completely metamorphosing personally and collectively. Just read, think and act.
